The Letter Writers Alliance is a member based organization dedicated to keeping letter writing alive. The Alliance was started in the Summer of 2007 by Kathy Zadrozny and Donovan Beeson. With a combination of both online presence and in person gatherings we strive to give people the tools to maintain the art of letter writing. Donovan and Kathy design, create, package, email, web design, and all the other things that go along with running a worldwide organization. There are no interns or minions; these two ladies do it all. The L.W.A. community is what keeps them going and they thank you for being awesome.
With over 12,000 members worldwide, the member site is the biggest part of the Alliance. We offer free printable downloads, exclusive member products, and vintage postal items. The L.W.A. has been included in the letter writing book, Good Mail Day and has been interviewed by the BBC regarding the importance of paper correspondence. At then end of the day, we are happy to see so many people enthusiastic about letter writing.
In this era of instantaneous communication, a handwritten letter is a rare and wondrous item. The Letter Writers Alliance is dedicated to preserving this art form; neither long lines, nor late deliveries, nor increasing postal rates will keep us from our mission.
As a member of the Letter Writers Alliance, you will carry on the glorious cultural tradition of letter writing. You will take advantage of every opportunity to send tangible correspondence. Prepare your pen and paper, moisten your tongue, and get ready to write more letters!
The L.W.A. is a female-owned organization that supports all religions, races, and genders. We are all-inclusive, support equality, and do not discriminate against people based on race, sexual orientation, or disability. We are against hatred or prejudice of any kind. If your beliefs are counter to our values, then please find another letter writing group.

Our Thoughts on Making Time for Letters
Every time you write an e-mail or make a phone call, ask this question, “Is what I have to say to this person worth more than five minutes of my time?” If the answer is yes, then put down that receiver and back away from the monitor. Just because something is quick or free, doesn’t mean it is the best or the most effective way to do it. If you are going to communicate, why not have it be meaningful?
Letters are the most intimate form of long-distance correspondence we have available. It is a tangible connection between the sender and receiver. One cannot hold an email and marvel about how they are touching the same object that someone else held thousands of miles away. Writing a letter gives one the opportunity to choose his or her words with care, rather than having to spit them out willy-nilly into the ethereal land of zeroes and ones. A letter is proof of history, an artifact of one’s life and community.
We've been very pleased to be talked about in some awesome books and media outlets. Should you be interested in interviewing or writing about the Letter Writers Alliance, check out our Press Kit or send us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
